Default Throttle body question

For some reason when I step on the accelerator the throttle sticks before returning to the starting postion and the car stays idle at 2500-3000 rpms. Anyone know what may be causing this.??

The car is a 1995 Manual

You should post this in the C4 technical forum.

Thats a sign of a worn throttle shaft. I am pretty sure it can be repaired. There is an ebay seller that rebuilds them.

That could be the throttle shaft. Make sure the accelerator cable is not sticking and place s little grease on it. Also, check the TPS voltage as it should increase smoothly up and down as the throttle plates are opened to WOT and closed.

Removing the cable(s) from TB will help you narrow down the problem area. That high of an idle doesn't sound like a throttle shaft/blade problem. Maybe your foot pedal needs a good looking over.

Youve got 2 cables to check, and also check the ASR unit isnt sticking. As AGENT 86 said, remove the cable from the throttle body and open it by hand to see if it binds or sticks. Id guess at one of the 2 cables though. (1 from pedal to ASR unit, then from ASR unit to throttle body)

How come you didnt post this on C4 Nation???

the engine isn't stock... to say the least!

I don't know if this part was replace when JB666 did all the mods, tho. I would hit the throttle shaft with some PB blaster and run some graphite down the throttle cable. The weather in Mass could be causing some of the problems - humidity alone could make this worse.
