Where did you buy your Vette?
I brought my vette in September 06 and found it in the Vettetrader online. I went to Boston MA to purchase the car. I live just north of Atlanta Ga. It was a blast driving my Vette back home from Boston. Let me say an adventure. Please post where or how you brought your Vette?

A friend was looking for a $500 beater, so we took a ride and looked at the junk in the back lot of some dealerships. He found a chevy cavalier z-24 with a blown motor for $500. It was a bank repo and $500 was the amount owed on it. It was worth 5k fixed. I thought he had the deal of the day when the salesman asked if he could sell me a car off the back lot too. I said, only if it was a c4 vette. He tossed open the garage door and had a dirty, black 87. It too was a bank repo. I purchased it for 10,500 bucks.
The best part was it was 1991. Quite a deal.

January 2000, Rogers Corvette Center (Orlando)
Went to put a down payment on a 94 Admiral Blue auto, someone else did the same thing an hour before I got there.
I spent another month looking around and came back to Rogers and found this white 89 and took it home a few days later.
My philosophy was... why spend $17K on honda that ALL the people I knew were buying, then suping up when I could spend the same amount on a Corvette, which was well beyond that level

I bought mine from a local Chevy dealer when she was eight years old for $12K.

Found mine on cars.com
They had it listed because it was in the Dallas newspaper
Bought it sight unseen First time I saw it was when it was delivered
Never regretted it once

Bought mine from a guy at work.
He was selling it for a down payment on a house.
Funny thing is about 4 weeks after selling me the Vette he hit a jackpot in the lottery for $167,000.
I asked him if he wanted to buy the Vette back for a "real good deal".

Bought my 95 from my best friend since middle schools dad He had owned it since 97 when it had 25k miles on it and i bought it from him with 46k miles on it about a year and a half ago. Since it was my best friends dad i got a steal of a deal on the car and i havent had to do anything but change the battery (my fault for letting it sit 3 or 4 months in my parents garage after i bought it) and brake pads. (and the oil of course lol)

I bought my car off of some scummy used car dealership near Cape Cod about an hour and a half from my house. I bought it for cheap money 2 years ago (94 black on black 6 speed with 69k on the clock, coupe, sport seats, climate, CD and Tape) for $11k (book value was over $16k). As soon as i bought it it was an instant headache drumming up $900 in repairs (tune up, faulty injector, Reverse light switch broken, broken CD player, broken lat support on seat, no spare tire or carrier, no locknut key) but after I got it running right it still wouldnt pass the state mandated inspection due to 4 dry rotted bad tires. So finally I got a rim and tire deal (Gunmetal ZR-1's) and got it up and running. I tried sueing the dealership due to the fact that they violated the lemon law in every sense of the word but all i got out of it was $187.00 and that was supposed to pay for the tires. The judge wouldnt give me the money for the $900 in repairs that i did prior because I supposidly didnt give him a chance to repair it even though i called his shop over 25 well documented times. Over the last 2 years I have worked the car into prestine condition but it has taken many of dollars and many of hours
Moral of the story if you live in Massachusettes do not buy a car from Most Preferred Auto in North Abington.
Here is a copy of the ad that hooked me into this love hate abusive relationship

I bought my 1988 corvette almost 2 years ago for $9,500.
I bought it from an individual who kept it really clean and didn't drive it much although it had 96,000 miles on it.
It looked like a new car and I fell in love with it at first sight.
I really felt screwed when the 4+3 manual transmission took a dump less than a week after I bought the car.
I then realized why he didn't drive the car much. He was waiting for a sucker to buy it before it lay down and died.
I stuck a $3,500 transmission, clutch, flywheel in the car and then spent a year fixing small things like wheel bearings and universal joints and radiator hoses and water pump.
Turns out I got a real nice car that I can depend on to get me where I am going in style.

I have purchased the last 2 from Forum members. One in Houston and the other in Kennesaw, GA. It was fun flying down and driving them back. I sold the Houston car to a local Forum member and am selling the current one back to the previous owner this summer. He bought it when it was new when he was 17 and has decided he wants it back.
So - I will be Vetteless after Memorial Day and on the hunt for another one. I will be looking at C2s, Sharks, C4s and maybe even a C5 or C6. If my wife's stepmother kicks off this year (age 92) and the inheritance is good then I may even get the wifey to kick in for a C6! I will have to do some major sucking up though.

I live in Mass and leaked just over the line into CT to buy mine off a guy in Woodstock....Like every good story, this one startet with "I was having a couple beers with a buddy..." and a friend of a friend was there and said he wanted to sell his Vette. Having just sold my 64 T-bird ragtop and looking at multiple junks for long money in the areas "Want Ad", I almost bought it without looking because I know the guy was meticulous about everything he owned, and I had to fill the garage space before my wife figured she could inherit it. One look, a short test ride (and a gleefull sideways sideslip) and I was hooked...now I can't wait for decent weather to register it. Everyone who comes to the house has to see "The Vette"....now I know- every man should own a Vette once in his lifetime

I bought my '96 convertible, here in Tulsa. The funny thing is that I was willing to go just about anywhere in the US to get the car I wanted. Luckily, I found it close by.
The original deal on the car fell through because we were $3900 apart in price. I walked away and resumed my national search. Two days later, I received a call from the owner's wife with a counter-offer within $1000 of my original offer. Since her offer was what I actually was willing to pay, we came to an agreement and I saved a flight and drive back from Florida (where I had located another C4 convertible that met my criteria).

We got our 89 coupe from my wife's dad for FREE! He wanted to give us the Vette since we never asked for anygthing from him in our 20 years of being married. We love the Vette and will never be without one again.

The vette I bought was listed on ebay..it did not sell..I contacted the seller after the auction was over and told him I was interested in the car...he was only about an hour from me..we met I checked over the car and made an offer..we agreed on price and I bought it. I paid 13 grand for it, 95, 6 speed, convertable, it had 65,000 miles when I bought it, that was about 2 years ago...I think I did very well..so far only replaced the tires, and recently a starter. everything else works fine in the car..including the climate control..I am happy
