Most folks are not seriously interested in whether or not these cars are appreciating until they are in the market to buy one. The subject can get to number one in a hurry then.

That is, with the sarcasm in this response. . . with a few exceptions, C4's will probably never have values worth waiting for -- drive and enjoy them.

Really interesting to have a look back in time to see what we thought of C4 prices just a few years ago

I just bought a 92 convert. with just under 18,000 miles for 10,500. if i maintain the car and put 20,000 miles on it in 4 years i will have a hell of a good time and still have a fairly low mileage car worth about 6 grand. a grand a year. dont get better than that. ok i didnt add in maintainance cost, so what. forgot, iam the second owner.

Wow...this is an oldie!!

They are still depreciating and will be for a while longer....outside of GS low miles...

cars keep getting better!

Once the "new" Corvette comes out I'm sure there will be a little more depreciation...and a ton of C7 fire sales !!!

gotta have the newest....

I don’t drive my 401(k) and IRA’s and I don’t invest in C4 Corvettes as for price increase speculation.

Thats just me though.

Best to look for a car guys arent turning into dune buggys if you want an investment grade ride. Seems to be popular for the C4-5 crowd

Haven't noticed a big change here in the Cincy area..

Sure, there's some high prices, but those cars never sell?

Sounds like the seller isn't serious or is delusional. But they don't seem to be getting those numbers.

I figure my '92 is worth just about exactly what I paid for it when I got it...9 years ago. So, prices aren't going anywhere. That's fine b/c I didn't buy it as an "investment"....that's for sure.

Asking and getting are two different things. Barring the few idiots that try to get on the IRS radar, is there a way we can check "SOLD FOR" prices amongst the common folk and not a BJ Auction?

Yes. Log into ebay. Search for C4 Corvettes....then there is a little button that takes you to "completed listings" or something similarly titled. You can see what final bids/sale prices were.

I did that, without going through and entering 5 pages of results into a spreadsheet, just looking at the prices, it would seem the average price would be in the 5 to 8 thousand range.

The 1st 12 in the listing average out to $6115. Then I went and did the bottom 5 as those prices had some higher values, a 10K car and a 15K car, the average price was then $8360. Their prices seemed kind of representative. There are some high and some low prices which tend to average each other out. From scanning through, I would say the average would be $7500 as a best guess.

Love Mr. Mojo's prediction back in 2007, some truth in it.

I don't know if prices have bottomed out or not, but I know they are low enough that the C4's are one of the best bang for the buck cars out there.

They are also low enough that the cost of ownership is also one of the lowest for all cars too. For example, I bought a couple of them as drivers for my 100 mile per day commute. I kept each of them for about 2.5 years and 45k miles. When I sold them I got within a couple hundred of what I paid for them. That is a lot of time, miles, and fun for a couple hundred dollars.

A great time to get a C4. (or an additional one)
