Default Question.....First year of LT-1 was? OBDI First Year? and OBDII First Year?

I think the LT1 came out in 1993 and OBDI came out same year. I am sure that OBDII came out in 1996.

Right or Wrong?

Close. First LT1 (no hyphen, please) was 1992. First true OBDII system was 1996 with 1995 kind of a hybrid between I & II.

BTW, the original LT-1 was available in 1970, 71, and 72. The 70 LT-1 was and still is a real screamer at 370 HP (gross).

OBD = On Board Diagnostics. I and II refer to the basic version of the computer controlled system in use.

1994 and 1995 Vettes have the OBDII connector, but have OBDI software.

OBD = On Board Diagnostics. Its the software that controls the car, written into the PCM module. OBDII is much more complex than OBDI, with more sensors and software code. There are more restrictions on what you can modify with OBDII.

OBD II stands for "on-board diagnostics second generation". It was a change in required emissions control devices mandated by the second Clean Air Act.

1994 and 1995 LT1 Corvettes have a partial OBD II system. It stores OBD II codes but does not turn on the MIL if the OBD II diagnostics detect a problem. The OBD I diagnostics which those cars also had are what runs the MIL. Also, there are some hardware differences between the partial OBD II of 94 and 95. In short, 95 was more OBD II than was 94. The reason for the two years of partial OBD II was GM's so-called "early roll-out" of OBD II, which allowed GM to see how the system worked in the field for two years prior to having to meet the requirments. This was a wise move that allowed GM to launch its full OBD II compliance with out some of the problems experienced by other manufacturers.

The 1996 model year was the first year full OBD II compliance was required by Federal law (with a few limited exceptions) on all passenger car platforms sold in the U.S.
