LT1 2 Bolt Main?????
I just took my motor out of my car and it is a 2 bolt main... i thought corvette lt1s had the 4 bolt main.

Melting Slicks
Could be original
I have heard on this forum that a few two bolt mains ended up in Corvettes off of the assembly line. According to some of the feedback I received, GM ran out of 4 bolt mains a few times on the assembly line as substituted 2 bolt mains to get cars finished and onto the showroon floors. BTW a 2 bolt main can be rebuilt and handle up to 400+ HP or you can beef it up and turn it into a four bolt main with some machine work.

Im just going to drop and LT4 into it..
its cheaper than rebuilding the one that spun a bearing... and what kinda hp would that motor put out with a two bolt main?

Most LT1s had 2 bolt mains (B-body and Fbody) Its relatively inexpensive to convert a 2 bolt LT1 into a splayed 4 bolt main engine and splayed 4 bolt mains are stronger than the factory style.
Where are you going to find a complete LT4 for less money than rebuilding your LT1 ?
