Default Just Checking...

I removed my frisbee off of the front and fixed the vacuum lines for the cruise control. (Not fun). I reattached the cable to the throttle because I lost the little o-sh*t clip that holds it on. The cruise control works!!! The car is significantly different though. It accelerates quicker, the throttle is more responsive and the exhaust sounds different(?) and the "fuel average" is now 20mpg on the display - it used to be 24 +/-. The issue is that I don't think the converter is going into lockup. I am turning 2500 RPM at 70 mph. Is that about right? For the life of me, I can't remember what it was before. (I am 50 years old). Does that sound right???

The car is a 1990 Convertible base.

That said, I seem to remember being on the freeway at 75 and thinking how LOW the RPMS were .. and I don't think I'd remember them as being that low if she was turning at 2500.

AH, ask Google and ye shall receive:

Of course the above link IS for manual trans, but I doubt if there's 700rpm difference.

just off the top of my head , it seems to me, my 90 coupe is turning around 2100-2200 rpm at 70. - not 100% sure though. BTW, auto, w/ standard differential gearing.

Thanks for the replies. I am at about 2400+/- at 70. I am going to disconnect everything and see what happens. I HATE all the electronics in this car.

I did find a small vacuum line disconnected at the back of the intake and the dipstick was out of the tube. I'll drive it tomorrow and see what happens.

Default No lockup

The converter isn't going into lockup I think. My idle is at 850 or so. There is no lockup at cruise speed. I did have to take the battery out to replace the vacuum line to the brake pedal switch for the cruise control. Could I have knocked a wire loose under the dash or something when I was working on the vacuum line?
