Default velcro strip on new carpetting

a couple of weeks ago, i finished installing a new mass backed carpet set I ordered from Willcox. The quality is good and the install was pretty much straightforward with minimum trimming. However the velcro strip was not sewn in the front carpets. Im talking about the velcro strips that allow the floor mats to adhere to the carpeting. I was supplied with a set of velcro strips which have glue on the back of them. Now I'm thinking, there is no way you are supposed to just peel the backing and stick them down to the carpet, it will never hold.
I call Willcox and was told that replacement carpet does not have velcro sewn into it. I was supposed to just use the supplied velcro strips, peel of the backing and stick them to the carpet.
Well, I tried that, it lasted about a day.
Any one else have this problem?

My factory carpet does not have velcro strips - I'm no help.
My mats don't slide - They have the hook side of the velcro on the bottom and that seems to hold them just fine.

I did my carpet this past spring and I never knew what those velcro strips were for until now.

Needless to say I didn't use them.

This was an issue when I did my carpet, I ended up living w/o the strip. I believe that Mid America sells the carpet w/ the velcro and the GM stamp of approval.

Just sew them in. It will be worth the trouble to not have the carpets slide around. That gets old REAL fast!

I believe all C4s have velcro for both driver side and passenger side from 1984 model year through 1988 model year. Then in 1989, the velcro was only on the driver side. Starting with the 1990 model year, no velcro was used and this was in conjunction with a slight change in the mats. I believe the 1990 and newer mats have longer spikes that keep them from sliding around. Just my 2 cents about velcro on the carpet. Regards, Ed

to late now, carpet is already installed. Anyway the mass backing is so thick, probably would be a bitch to get a needle to go through
