Make sure the screws (both top and mounting brakets) aren't cross threaded and that they are tight. Just 1/8th turn loose can cause the car to flex and the top to make a lot of noise. If the screws are tight, check to see the top is not delaminated from the frame.

yes the all four were tight...I have always drove the car with the top off. It's a weekends, cruise, starbucks type pleasure car, if it's raining it stays in the garage.

When I got my after market acrylic top from Melrose I saw that they had adjustment bolts for the front two mounting brackets (above the sun visors). If these bolts are loose I'm sure you will get some rattling or other noise. My car is an '89 coupe. Your top may or may not have these adjustment bolts. It's worth a check though. Even with everything tightened down I still get some flex noise when going over bumps etc.. I think it's just the nature of the beast.

Had the same problem 2 weeks ago and ask for help on the forum. Got lots of great advice, and tried it all..... However this is what worked: I tightened the two front bolts first and got them very snug. THEN I tightened the rear bolts, and it stopped ratteling. I have no idea why this worked, but it did. If I tighten up the rear bolts first, it rattles, if I do the front first, no noise.

My 95 started to do the same thing. I added a couple felt pads to the back crossbar. Worked like a charm...
