I donno, did you pull the fuel pump assembly? You can pretty much get at anything in the tank then.

Ohhh. Remove the gas door assembly, (four torx screws), and then CAREFULLY remove the rubber boot, it will probably be brittle. Then you will see the fuel pump assembly. Disconnect the three hoses, and remove the ten or so 10mm bolts that hold the unit in. Carefully lift and twist the unit until it lifts out. NOW BEFORE DOING THIS, you need to determine what you are trying to do. the big lump you are looking at, I now assume, is the fuel pump assembly.

Get a suction tool at Harbor Freight or at a parts store. You can also get a hose for an outboard motor (with pump ball) and use it to siphon it out.

Keep in mind that there is a plastic sump in the bottom of the tank. It's glued to the plastic liner. When the gas tank is low this sump captures enough fuel to keep the fuel pump from starving when going around turns. If you dislodge it you may not be able to glue it back down. This is probably why you're seeing a mound of crap below the fuel pump, it's in the sump or you're just seeing the sump with fuel in it. Just be careful you don't bang it loose.
