I know you can buy some nos zf6s on ebay for about $1400 but is there any common place to get the bellhousings?

The ZF bellhousings are discontinued, so your best source would be a Corvette salvage yard or the Parts/For Sale section here as well. Depending on the year (later models are magnesium and more expensive, earlier models are aluminum), expect to pay between $150-300 for one.
