When the rounded taillights were gone did you miss them ?
Or went totally crazy for the squared tails ?
Time to remember.............

Yep, I thought it was a nice update. After 7 years it was time for an update.
Looking at it now, I think both are great. The 'look' really is quite distinctive for both, the harder corners (front and back) of the 84-90, and the softer rounded corners on the 91-96 (I know, I know, the 90 ZR1 had the softer rounded rear end too).....
I wonder what a 91-96 rear end would look like with the round tail lights... hmmm... has anyone ever done that mod? Someone with skills want to photoshop it??? I'd be curious to see it.

Melting Slicks
Tradition was broken,to me that was a bad thing. Just like loosing the hideaway headlamps on the C6 to go after the Viper look. I thought Dodge was suppose to copy us guys since we were doing this since 1953.

I still like the Kamm tail and round lights of the early C4's vs the laters. But for some reason on the wider ZR-1 rear, I really think the square lights look bad-***. On the '90-92 where the exhaust tips were dual squares to match the taillamps, I really like that.

I like round, thank you!

I personally like the look of the early C4's back. The concave rear bumper was more aggressive than the rounded one. However, I've wondered why they didn't create a rounded taillight that came apart like the later cars.

You have to remember, the round back wasn't introduced as a styling change, only the ZR-1s had it, it signified a huge performance increase, it was the "King of the Hill" vette that had the round back end, this was the car that people were bidding on. We went through the late 70's with diminishing performance and the 80's showed some life, horsepower increases coming slowly but surely, and all of a sudden, this killer engine appears to let us know that there will be big horsepower vettes again! To me it was a big deal, there was no way I could afford one, but I called a few dealers to see who had one and went and looked at it, just to admire it. So for a year or so, if you saw that rounded back end, that was the symbol of performance. I was actually disappointed when they gave it to all the corvettes. Well only for a little while, then I decided that I did like the look better.

My thoughts? Im sitting here in a beach chair staring at the back end of my 1991 corvette watching my beautiful wife in a Bikini washing the car. Im admiring the soft curves, rear end,and the beauty of the whole experience, DAMN!!! That car is beautiful....now if she would just get out of the way. LOL
