I put new weather strip in the car (86) and now it leaks worse than ever. All fits fine, top, rear window, back of windows.. EXCEPT there is a 1/16" gap along the front window piller. I've adjusted till I'm blue in the face. Obviously I haven't figured the combnation to move the front edge in without moving the top out. The adjusting bolts on the top of the door seem to work exactly opposite to how they look like they should. I had to push the bolts out from the car to bring the top of the window in?? I've searched and googled looking for a decent explaination of what does what for window adjustment but I have not found it. Shop manual is totally useless too unless I missed something.. HELP..
IS it possible the "Metro" seals themselfs where not properly made (front seals too thin)? Odd that all seems to fir fine but the front edge of the window. If those seals where just about an 1/8" thicker, all would be good!
I can pull the door skins blindfolded behind my back! I've done it that many times I think. I will give that a try this evening. There is plenty of seal area on the back of the window, so that may be all I need.
I recently replaced the driver's side regulator on my '96 and I recall the FSM has you adjust the glass in the up position as you install it onto the regulator. I slid my glass up and forward and then tightened the nuts that hold the glass to the regulator. No gaps and no leaks - but I still need to replace the A Pillar weatherstrip. Hopefully this works for you. If it doesn't I may keep my old weatherstrip a little longer.
