How much do my brakes suck you ask?
Tonight, I pulled into the neighborhood and had been running it pretty hard and thought what the hey! I'll smoke em up, cause they'll be replaced this winter. So I put my foot hard on the brakes and start revving the RPM's. The darn car has so much torque that I can't stop it from lurching forward. The tires were starting to spin and the car was going forward. I was ticked. Has this happened to any of you. I want new brakes this winter. What is the best set up for my 87 stock Vette. Don't care what it costs. I want to do it right. Thanks for any advice.

The Baer 6S works on a 90 ZR-1 - they run about $3,000.
I'd go with the C5 calipers and good pads.
You might want to talk to Jeff. He could probably hook you up with nice C5 powder coated calipers with the bracket adapters and for far less then anyone else. jeff2577@yahoo.com

The C5 calipers having larger pistons will actually have less clamping force, unless you change the M/C.

No they suck! Even just driving into town I have to really press down to get them to stop. It is all original equipment and I seriously need a new set up. Like SS brake lines new rotors, pads the whole nine yards. Do any of the companies like Ecklers, Zip, Mid America, etc. Make a great aftermarket set up for an 87?

I suspect the Baers might be overkill for your particular needs. In fact, if you just brought your stock brakes back to spec or perhaps a bit beyond, you might be pleasantly surprised. There's got to be something else you can spend the $2K difference on. If you do go with C5 or Baers, check to make sure you won't have clearance issues with your rims...

Okay, I know that there are a bunch of you C4 guys that are looking for 6 Piston Caliper brake set up at a reasonable price. Well here it is from our friends at Baer.
The 6P upgrade system is available for $1195 including Freight (and tax if applicable).
These 6 piston calipers are available in Red, Silver and Black. For those with a twisted sense of humor, you can even get them with a "Shelby" logo.
The kit comes with Calipers, brackets, bolts and street pads. If you want track pads, MSI stocks them as well.
The kits should be available to ship within the next two weeks. They are in production right now.
We are putting a complete set of these on the "Pro-Touring" twin turbo, LS1, 1970 Chevelle that we are completing right now.

I wonder if the dual system brake system is functioning properly. The master cylinder could be sending more hydraulic pressure to the rear wheels than the front. I would get the system tested.
