have any of you put tips on your mufflers? if so please post a picture and i am trying to see what style i want to install on my car.
so far i'd like to get the chrome tips that are cut at a 45 degree angle at the end but the only problem i have is that my exhaust has these odd ends they are the shape of a hockey rink like a rectangle with a half circle on each side so i can't even slide a round tip over them to see what size i need how will i add the tips? cut the ends on the mufflers off to see what size tips i need then weld them on? or should i not do this and just wait until i need new mufflers and then do this lil appearance mod?
I checked into this before. For not much more than the cost of 4 tips and having them welded on, you can buy a performance style muffler with chrome tips on them. By a performance muffler, I don't mean a corsa, borla, etc. Check the Ecklers and similar magazines. You'll find what I"m talking about.
The Magnaflows look really nice. For the L98 system you get a Y-pipe too, all for around 500 dollars, I think. I didnt go with them for the LT1 because I have heard they had a resonance problem, and I got a little more spending money for Christmas than I expected.
I recently joined the "Eliminator" club. What I want to do is go to a vette boneyard and find a pair of used LT1 tipped mufflers. Cut-off the tips and weld them on to peices of straight pipe. This is still cheaper than the $150.00 the catalogs are charging for these things.
BTW, I took off Flowmaster Force II system. No real noticeable change in sound tone, just the db's are little louder.
