Safety Car
Whenever brits get involved on TV about american cars, it doesn't matter what it is, they will find more fault with it than a domestic vehicle.

I saw this in the past and the electrics comment bugged me as the former owner of a Triumph GT6. That car had a mind blowingly anemic 110HP from a twin carbed straight six(each carb could only do 150CFM though ).

Melting Slicks
I have watched as many of the episodes of "Wheeler Dealers" as I can find online. I find it to be a pretty good show, and enjoyable. Thie knowledge of american cars is probably not as strong as the more popular British and European models, but they still do a good job of entertaining.
I was flipping through the channels last night and Speed channel had "Pimp my Ride" on. Now I like that show for what it is, but I couldn't help but think that I would much rather see Speed showing Top Gear or Wheeler Dealers.
The thing about Wheeler Dealers that I like is that is operates on a reasonable budget. Speed had a show where a professional shop would restore a muscle car to sell at auction, but it was a full custom shop spending 10's of thousands of dollars on the project. Interesting, but not really something I can relate to.

back in the early 70's i bought a 67 sumbeam alpine (i'm thinking a Mk5), so i know some of this stuff first hand. i had to monkey with the car 2 hours to get 1 hour driving time out of it. another foreign great "superior engineering" POS was the 76 VW dasher. i use to tell my wife not to drive the thing any farther than she could walk back home - on the other hand, my 85 corvette was probably one of the most reliable vehicles i have ever owned -
