What to offer - 91 coupe 6spd
Hello all,
Found this vette near me, called the dealer today and he told me his bottom line price. Just wondering what you think would be a fair offer
91 coupe
6 speed
~113,000 miles
painted targa, no glass top
repainted admiral blue, was black - dealer said it was done well (aka door jambs, etc)
interior is decent
dealer said weather stripping needs replacement.
has borla exhaust installed
he said 8 was the lowest he would go, what do you say?

There are a lot of great deals out there. I'm not sure that is one of them. There are alot of hungry sellers out there. Lust doesn't necessarily equal love. JMO

My Opinion is check KBB and see what it says and take that number into account with the repaint, go look at it and see what your wallet says. Do you like Admiral Blue( I would buy one that had been repainted that color if it was done correctly) if so go with cash and see what the dealer has to say. If it is a no deal, go back in a couple of days and try again. CASH TALKS........

Truthfully i would not buy the car mainly for the reason of the milage, unless you forgot to say that the car has had a clutch replacement i really would not do it, that would cost you pretty pennie, and i think the milage would affect the resale as well.

Let me give you some perspective. I bought this 91 Vert Zf6 from a Forum Member in December of 2007 for $7200.00. Granted the mileage was high at 140K but the paint is original, the car looked like it had 60K on it, new tires, perfect weather stripping and runs perfectly.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Edmunds gives it 5750 dealer retail for clean condition
Nada gives 10250
and kbb gives 9395 for excellent
He asked what I was willing to offer and told him 7000, then he said he had the car out at carlisle a couple weeks back and had someone offer 8000. He didn't want 8000 then but has figured out the market I think. Now he doesn't want to go lower than what he was last offered.
We'll see what my bank says and I'll see what kind of cash offer I could make.

He's playing you. It doesn't sound like you've even looked at the car yet. I would never make an offer sight unseen (well over $2500 anyway) You really need to look this car over carefully. Maybe there's someone on the forum that will go with you (most of us jump at the chance to go look at a vette)

Were in a bad fnancial time right now. Let him sit on it and guaranteed theprice will drop lower and lower. Theres nothing special collectible or rare about most C4s. THey are affordable sportscars, thats all.

I'd suggest looking on Craigs List, or EBay.
I bought my '92 off of EBay for $5800, about 3 months ago. With various fix-its and the few upgrades I've done, I'm into it for maybe $7500.
Oh, BTW, that's with 85K on the clock.
If he bought it for more than $4500, I'd be VERY surprised. Dealers work off of wholesale prices, not the retail prices you see on Ebay and Craigs List... I'd offer him $5500, take it or leave it.
And be ready to leave, should he try to BS you any more...

I kinda agree with the above - you offer 5250 - 5500 cash and give him your cell number, then walk away. If he/she doesn't call you in a couple of days look for something else. It's a buyer's market for just about anything these days - you have the upper hand.
