Maybe few of you already tried but here it goes for the ones that maybe have this project on their "bucket list".

I was "ripping" the windshield's weatherstrip off and I remember the day a CF member recommended me to strip the plasti dip with Carb Cleaner SO, I grabbed the can and sprayed it on the weatherstrip. 90% of this SOB came off like a scab leaving the metal with no residue. I have not use the adhesive cleaner/remover at all.

I'll take some pictures and will post them later. ...use eye protection, carb cleaner burns your eyes

Here they are:

-
-
Note here, I started to use the carb cleaner on the black painted line.

-
-
Masked for tomorrow, I'll be painting the trim. The traga came out good now, they have to "match"

Again, to all members with an upcoming wetherstrip project

To remove the glue/weatherstrip from the car, use carburator cleaner, it disolves the glue and you'll have a cleaner and faster installation.

You have show quality weatherstripping compared to whats on my car ... all that pretty much remains of my weatherstripping in that area is a piece of wire and most of the other weatherstripping looks melted everywhere. the trunk stuff isnt much better, in the corners it has shrunk about 6 inches.

I'm going to try your idea and hope my windshield frame isn't rotted from all the leaking it has done.

Buy the kit and take your time. I started on Friday night and to include the window alignment, this project will not be done today.

Yeah middle of next month I am going to buy a 550.00 full weatherstrip kit for the car. After I am sure the car is sealed up then I will do the interior work it needs. I wanted to hold off on the weatherstrip job till after the car is painted but this thing flood in just a very light rain.

I'm having the same problem. The window needs to be "aligned". If you search, this is a common problem for new installed weatherstrips
