Default Steering Column Click...?

I have the same problem described here on my 96 vert.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...ate-shaft.html

A couple of questions:

Is this just an annoyance or is it a safety issue? If it is an annoyance I think I'll learn to live with it.

If it is a safety issue and needs to be addressed, it sounds like there are no new parts available and the only solution is the workaround in this thread...??

Thoughts?

Thanks

Link includes "..." so it doesn't work ... but ... if it's the click I think it is, then it's just an annoyance that's caused by the bushings in the intermediate steering shaft (connects the steering column to the rack). The shaft is discontinued, but you can find used ones on eBay for $100. There's a guy in NC who has a box full of ones in good condition, and was the only source when I checked a few months ago.

Link fixed.

I traced the clicking to the joint just under the brake master cylinder. I think that is what we are all referring to - don't know the name of the part. Looks like a rough repair for DIY and probably an expensive one at a shop just to fix an annoyance.
