Months ago few Vette owners did a poll and the results were that gay Corvette owners do not wave.

Back in 1987 when I bought my 1970 C3 convertible I notice most every Corvette that I past on the road would return the wave except for the C4 owners. This was when owning a C4 meant that you had a brand new (or mostly new) Corvette. I think it’s the same today when I drive my 16 year old C4. I get lots of waves from the older Vette’s but very few from C5 owners, and defiantly few from C6 owners.
People just dont wave anymore. I dont wave first ever anymore, whether Im in my 58, 69 or 03. If someone waves first I might return it if there's time.
Honestly, calling a C5 owner a snob is kinda funny. Its not like he's driving an exotic or something that makes all Corvettes look bad. These "I hate C5 owners" threads are more about C4 owners feeling insecure rather than the actual waving habits of C5 owners.
Maybe there should be a sticky of the "C5 owners wont wave to me, wah," thread at the top of the page so you dont have to type out all the same BS every week.

Someone new to the forum deserves a civil polite answer to a issue that's new to them. If a thread is a worn out pain in the azz to you, look for another thread to post on. Of course this is going to keep coming up along with other issues because we keep getting new members.

Can we please stop with these intergenerational issues? Most of the drivers that don't wave are:
1. Paying attention to their own driving.
2. Didn't see you.
3. If driving a later car, are tired of waving because they would have to wave all day long at the other daily driver Corvettes out there.
4. Are pre-occupied with other issues in their life (don't we all have some issues?).
5. View the Corvette as nothing more than a car (albeit a stylish one).
6. Aren't really car "people" to know they should wave.
7. In the middle of a shift (if a manual) and don't have a spare hand.
I doubt very seriously if ANY of these drivers who don't wave are:
1. Stuck up or snobs
2. Hate C4s
Jeez, Plenty of newer Corvettes don't wave to me when I'm driving my 67 and it's worth far more than any C6 or C5 - so it can't be a "snob" thing going on. If they wave they wave - let it alone otherwise and just enjoy your own Corvette.

If they really hated C4's, they would take the chance every time they get one to flip us off.

I wonder if Prius owners wave to each other...
Naa, lets not do that, I have to roll down my window at 25 mph, that kills my mileage...
It´s the same here in Sweden, some wave, many don´t, probably because they just don´t know about it (Corvette history in the States).
And I´m not that concerned either, in this country it´s also about keeping your hand(s) on the wheel and the mind on traffic.
When I lived in the Netherlands, I had something called an Opel Manta (then in 1990 it had about the same wow factor as a 1984 Firebird V6 today in the States...).
Even with a crappy one with a 1.6 litre L4 without any bodykit, I would still get-and-return the wave.
It´s all about culture and what people decide to do with it.
I wouldn´t be surprised if very few of the fresher Manta owners wave to the other ones.

I can't speak for C5 owners. But personally, I love to read threads about how someone didn't wave to another Corvette. It's extremely interesting to read someone bitch about how some total stranger didn't ackowledge their existence. So I never wave, hoping to inspire more and more of these types of threads being posted.
I've even thought about flipping the bird at other Corvettes I see, as that might be more interesting still to read about.

most average / general people around here look down on the c4's
not car guys / people, but the average person in south FL does not give half a crap about a c4 - and thinks its a pretty yucky car to have.
I love mine, but alot of them I see around are realley getting trashed up
faded paint, and broken in various states.
if corvettes had a ghetto catagory, the c4's of south FL, would definately be it
due to years of crappy maintnence and the salty air , they just get hammered.
mine too - but I do my best to keep it looking spiffy.
next thing you know the young croud will get a hold of all the c4's and put fart cans /
neon / and fake boost guages / horrible rear wings and all kinds of crappy vynal graphics and huge boom boom stereos in c4's and start racing those around due to them being cheaper than civics.
haha. jk.

So maybe it's just a new owner thing more than a snob issue.....

I could care less to be honest...I didn't buy/drive mine to have or be waved at I've got better things to do with my time on the road rather then be concerend about who waves and who doesn't.
I bought mine to drive and that's all but if people want to wave or be waved at ? that's cool but I don't give it any thought.

The one guy who owns several Corvettes posts he will NEVER wave first and the guy with a ZR-1 posts he doesn't wave either and wants to give the finger to those who do wave I wave and don't get all pissed off if some old man doesn't wave back not a big deal.
