That is a shame!! What a waste of any vehicle!!

One thing is for sure, those L98's are pretty tough. It ran for almost 5 minutes after dumping that junk down the motor.

That is just wrong. It is wrong not only for a vette but for any vehicle that is running fine.

They can kiss my a##, They are not going to get mine!! What I don't understand is why can't they salvage the cars. Give the people a chance to do some good with the parts.

Unfortunately according to the site it gets a combined 17mpg. BS in my book as that is what mine usually gets when running around town only. That whole program is

It requires a combined gas mileage of 18mpg or lower. Many C4's get combined 18, so they barely qualify.

Oh the humanity!

On the other hand, after reading the C4 market guide in the new issue of Corvette Magazine, one less '86 makes mine a little more..rare?
Really, the pricing on the early models are a bit of a stretch

Sure could have used that right front rim.

According to the C4C program, the cars do go to a salvage yard where usable parts are removed and sold. It's only the engine and tranny that has to be destroyed. It's hard to say what sort of value the dealerships get for the vehicles, but it does insure a supply of used parts for those people who have similar vehicles that can get by with used parts (especially body parts).

A local TV station did a report using a Ford Windstar van and when they poured the stuff into the motor it ran for over 2 minutes at 50% throttle before it seized up.

Default This is helping polution?

That's just so wrong! So many parts that could be sold for crash fixes or restorations. An old C4 is probably worth many times more in parts than as a whole vehicle, so why destroy everything? A ZF transmission would bring a pretty penny, don't you think?
I've seen a few of these vids & I thought the whole idea was to get smoker cars off the road...do you see how much smoke those things make while there self destructing! How come EPA jumps up and down if I mow my lawn on an "Air quality alert day" with a little 1cyl Briggs & Stratton, but they let these guys smoke 350 ci V8's one after another all day? Hell, a Burger King smokes more in an hour than most of these cars do in a day and that seems to be OK....WTF?

Its your federal govetrnment "explaining the end of life options" to the auto market. Just a trial baloon for "throw mama from the train"

Noted today that the Senate backed off on the provision to manditorily explain to Grandma every 5 years the the world would be better off without her.

If you haven' t called, emailed and written your congressman, senator and any others the will take an email, you are part of the problem! Note that some of these as,,,,,s won't accept an email from outside their district. They really don't want to hear it! It's Obscene!

I was told yesterday by my Congressman that the Stimulus Bill and the Cap & Trade Bill were both entirely written by the staff of the Speaker of the Houses Office and that the Health Care Bill was largely written by them with some input from other Congressional Reps. He also stated that it was his opinion that the Cap & Trade Bill was designed to generate revenue to support the HC initiative.

Wake up America!
