I believe it wasn't until 92' that the factory started filling them with Mobil 1 . I however run Mobil 1 in my 87' and it even has an oil cooler.

Mobil 1 100% Tri-synth blend in the 10W-30 flavor. I also use AC/Delco PF-52 oil filters. I "run what she brung" as we're so fond of saying here in Kentucky. ;)

I've been running 5W-30 in my 93 and I bought it when it was a year old. I've thought about going to Amsoil but if its so great why arent more people using it? The local Vette shop in Ft Collins, CO recommends it. I'm just scared to take a chance on another oil. Also if GM recommends the oil, it should be good. GM warranty issues would a deciding factor, for a major car company to use the more expensive synthetic. Are there any othe car companies that use synthetic from the factory?

That must be a new formula that the ZR-1 guys came up with. I’m sure the two Lube Jockeys will comment on this. They always get into oil wars, those damm Petrol Pimp Jock Heads. They think their Einstein’s of the oil industry. We’ll see what their comment is on this oil here, and the hell with it being certified, who cares.
