pull the motor and buy a crate motor. LOL

I mean pull the crossfire fire and put on a carb.

I mean you got a lot of work ahead of you. good luck

What are your performance goals? And, more important, what's your budget? Aluminum heads by themselves are not going to give you major performance gains. The real answer to your question is anywhere from "forget about it" to "remove gas cap, replace car with a later model C4, reinstall gas cap".

i'm not looking for alot, maybe 75-100 horses.

i've pondered stroking it to 383 and leaving the CFI or maybe going carb'd.

as for a budget $2500 for now!!

the guy i'm taking it to is also our Fire Dept. mech. and he also used to work full-time at our local Chevy dealer.

he also mentioned going carb'd as well!!

i'm starting to realize alot about the '84's!! POS!! but the body is in good shape, needs paint and a few other minor things!!

I know some people getting decent power out of the crossfire but for your budget you would probably be better off going carbed with some reasonably priced Trick Flow or Edelbrock heads, and a good cam.

Default Ask for Dom...

One of the ZR-1 boyz, Dom, ported his 84 crossfire and ran (I believe he said) in the 13s with it. It was a DIY project, but he is pretty handy at customizing the computer fueling tables, spark, etc. too.

Goto the ZR-1 Net Registry and ask for XfireZ51, or Dominic Sorrenso (sp?) on the CF ZR-1 board. Dom is a great guy and may be able to work some magic on that L83!
