Nice work and great photos! Your extensive experience in painting is going to pay off. Thanks for sharing the techniques, especially the advice to stay away from the power sanders. Black is one tough color to paint, as every defect easily shows! We'll look forward to seeing how it turns out, and I'm betting it's gonna be awesome!

Painting prep questions
One question, as mine will need a complete repaint: Are you going to remove the belt line trim or just mask it? I say this because I bet 99% of the C4 owners here have belt line trim with the nuts rusted tight on the mounting studs.
I've got some good trim on the front and rear bumpers but sure enough the fastening nuts on the other side of all the body panels are as good as on there. If you try to break the nuts free, the stud spins inside the metal strip the trim is attached to. When I have the car repainted, I imagined having to remove all of the trim.
Edit: I'm looking to paint mine black as well.
