Default Won't idle below 900 rpm

I am helping a kid from work try to straighten out his 1985 Corvette. It will not idle below 900 rpm. I set the TPS today and it still stalls below 900 if he gooses the gas or even presses down and lets off. Does this sound like the IAC motor is not working correctly? I am going to pull the throttle body off next week and clean it and replace the IAC motor but I would like some other ideas so I have a plan when I get started. Thanks for any thoughts. Email me directly if you want.

Check his fuel pressure, should be around 35 at idle and rise under load. The IAC could cause a high idle, but it won't cause stalling when adding load.
