Looking for engine shop in Maryland.
I'm looking for an auto shop that will port heads and plenum and change cam. Pretty much looking for more HP without changing all the rods bearing etc. I live on the Eastern Shore but willing to travel to Western Shore.

Give Tony a call @ 301-987-0565. He owns and runs Tony's Corvette Shop in Gaithersburg, MD. If, he can not do the work for you due to time constraints or other, he will point you to one who can. Tony is simply the best.....!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had mixed results dealing with Tony's Corvette Shop. Some satisfactory experiences, some unsatisfactory. I've gone back to doing all of my own work.
Unless he's added some equipment since the last time I was in there, Tony's does not offer machine shop services.
Live well,
SJW

Well called 2 shops. One said to change take the efi off and put a holley on it. No I'm not doing that. Another shop said that theres not much I could do with that engine. Then I called TPIS. I told them, I want a weekened car to drive around but also more fun to drive. I told him I want to be in the low 12's at the track. The cost to get low 12's was $4,000. Thats not with exhaust or rear gears. I'm putting exhaust on this week and getting ready to order gears. Does that sound about right for price. Thats not the labor just all the bolt on items.

What does "low 12's" mean? A car with sticky tires and a good driver could probably hit low 12's with ~330whp. With street tires and ~375whp, I never got south of 12.5's.
So what are they doing, and what kind of gains, for your $4,000 just in parts?

420 HP and about 385 torque. There telling me to get the Dart alum. heads, cam, and ram and should give me about 420 HP with using the stock bottom end. What do you have done to get below 13's?

I'd expect someone from the Eastern Shore to say something like that about us!
I've heard some good things about these guys near BWI

Is 420hp at the crank? And what shop was it, since you started out asking about what shop to pick?

Headers, exhaust and a ported intake manifold. About $1,500 worth of parts if you can do the work yourself (which I can't). I have an LT5, though, so it's likely not relevant to your situation.

No. There out of MN. I was looking for shops in Maryland to do engine work but one said there nothing really they could do and the other shop wanted to put a Holley carb on it. TPIS was recomended for the bolt on items. TPIS was sayign that the bolt on acc. would give me about 420 HP

Did you talk to Maryland Performance in Frederick? You are going to need a shop to do the work if you get the parts from TPiS anyway, no?
I'm sure there are shops that can do what you want. You might try posting in the regional forum as well.
Also, have you thought about a blower? They are in the price neighborhood you are talking about.
