dexcool or regular antifreeze???
Hey Guys, I just found a card in the back of my 95 manual that i have had with the car when I bought it ,two years ago. It says that the 95 year cars call for dexcool coolant. Last summer I replaced the heater core and replaced the anti freeze with the same that I took out which was the regular green type. I have had no issues so far, but should I switch to the Dexcool now? What is everyone else using these days? brent317

There has to be thousands of threads on this subject.
You will find opinions on this all over the place.
For your '95, you should stay with the "Green" stuff.
Looking at owners manuals from '94-'96, DEXCOOL was only listed in the '96.
'94 and '95
GM Specification 1825M
'96
Specifically lists DEX-COOL meeting GM Specification 6277M

It really doesn't matter. Stick with whatever's in there currently. If you do choose to switch, just make sure to COMPLETELY flush out the old stuff. The 2 types of coolant don't play well together.

96 was the start of dexcool
the only way your car had dexcool was if it is a 96 model built in 95 or the previous owner switched.Stay green every body is going green Ha Ha I had to go there.
I use the anycolor prestone and its green, its a longer lasting coolant.I have a 95 BTW

n the early days of Dexcool, they were still perfecting the formula. What they didn;t count on was that people would mix the antifreezes, and it ended up coagulating and plugging up radiators.
They have since fixed the problem, and now, as of about 9 years ago, they have changed the formula again, and so has every other coolant manufacturer.
You can mix any antifreeze, and they all have the 5 year durability requirement.
The days of dexcool causing problems is over.
The need to keep dexcool in your car is over as well.
