My guess would be no due to the 87 having bigger brakes. But I'z just guessing.

Funny, new member, first post about installing 15" inch wheel in a C4 and you are already a supporting member. WTF

Normally they own 84s.

Now that's a trooper right there! But as far as the wheels, I've heard of guys putting skinny 15"ers up front, but not sure if anything over 15x7 is going to clear the brakes. See if they'll let you mount one up (assuming they are local)...although I'd suggest going with a 17" wheel myself.

Wow, I'm gonna look stupid here but my 87 came stock with 16 inch wheels with the Z52 suspension and I thought even the Z51 had 16 inchers. Am I wrong?

Standard wheel size for an 87 is 16". I have a base model coupe, with G92, (performance axle), and it had 16" factory wheels on it.

15" wheels would look odd on an 87. Most put 17" wheels on their car, if they replace the factory 16" wheels. 17" tires are more plentiful in variety of choice and cheaper in price.

That doesn't look like a very welcoming post on a thread where a new member is asking for help.

Is there something you don't approve of in that post?

Mistake?
Bought his first Vette and didn't know that it had the wheels replaced?

Or do you suspect something more sinister?

Actually, I was wondering why nobody else thought it was strange?

It's unusual, but stuff happens to a car that's 23 years old. Let's ask the original poster:

Hey riversideblues are you sure those wheels are 15"? You may want to double check and look at the tire size to verify. As you can see, 87's came with 16" wheels as the standard option.
Did you just buy the car?
