1st to 4th gear shifting
Hey, is disconnecting the 1st to 4th bypass on a 6-speed something a owner can do or is it a professional mechanic's venue? It is just annoying sometimes and I would like to disable this "feature."

Definitely a do it yourself issue. It'll take longer to get the Vette in the air than it will to open the connector. One of the catalogs, has a plug you can put it to keep the connection from getting clogged up.
It's a two wire connector on the driver's side of the transmission tunnel (if memory serves me correctly) search the forum I think there's a write-up with pics somewhere.

Yes, you can do it yourself.
Another option is to just stay in 1st a little longer allowing a slightly higher rpm level.
The 1 to 4 light will go back out, and the solenoid will then allow you to shift into 2nd.
Also note, that even if you unplug the connector (or use an aftermarket skip shift eliminator), the light on the dash will still come on.
But the solenoid will not force you to shift into 4th any longer.
