late seats in early c4
I picked up a set of 96 sport seats for my 86 and will hopefully be picking them up from the upholster this week. I have heard they bolt right up to the tracks but am skeptical because whenever something seems easy, it isnt. Who has done this swap and how many hours were involved? I plan on using the 86 tracks, if im not mistaken the seat motor is attached to the track so i will not have to change any wiring to get the power seat to work, correct?

The seats bolt to your existing seat tracks. If the new seats come with tracks, they will bolt directly to the floor. Now as far as WIRING the seats to your existing electronics, there are a lot of differences. The seat tracks use different connectors between 86 and 96, however the pin position is the same (I think, flat pins vs round ones) Now to get the sport seats working, you are going to need the seat wiring harness from the 96 and it will involve some adapting. Goldcylon (usually hangs out in the ZR1 section, put the 96 seats in his 91, which is different yet. He may be able to give you some insight. Send him a PM.

The 94-96 uses a different switch and wiring set up. There is wiring in the seats, but the harness/switch assembly is separate. It goes from the center to each seat. The assembly would not fit in the 84-89 console.
