Default Z 51 ?

I have been looking at a 96 LT4 with the Z 51 suspencion. Would it be that much roughfer ride than my 95 with the varriable suspension? The 96 is about 200 miles from me . Thanks Rich

Does is also have F45 (Selective Real Time Damping, electronic)?
If it does then you can set the selector to the softest settings and it should not be too bad. The advantage to that is when you want it to handle better you can switch it to the highest setting for those twisty back roads.
Per Mike Antonick's C4 book Z51 came on only 1,861 Vettes that year and was available on coupes only. Z51 included Bilstein shocks, special front and rear springs, stabilizers and bushings. It also required both power driver and passenger sport seats
Go for it as it is quite a rare option.
Reading farther I found that this option also included a heavy duty power steering cooler.

Is 2nd softest suspension ever fitted to a C4 ;
only '96 FE1 ( base ) and '94/95 FX3 are softer

My 95 was a Z51 car.. my 98 is a Z51 car and I just picked up a 88 35th ANC which has the sport Handling package (Z52)....

Never owned a base suspension in either a C4 or C5 ...

I honestly do not see a heck of a lot of difference BUT I like the feel (my rear end likes the feel ...not my brain) of the Z51...

MY wife on the other hand actually made the comment that the 88 "rides" nice.... which I think she means it was not as "rough"..

My choice hands down is the Z51....

Z52 got you the same pkg as Z51 except for the heavier springs and swaybars
so you have the base '88 suspension which is probably why your wife likes it
