Well Im going to make an offer at the end of the week for the 91 Vert.
Guy is coming on Friday to haul off my 85...so Ill be going to make an offer for the 91 Vert Ive been mulling over for a month now.
I went back today and went over it a little more carefully, they had a good battery in it this time.
Windows and mirrors work, wipers work, A/C blows. all interior lights work. Fired immediatly, made a rattle for a minute or 2, I revved it a couple times and it actually smoothed out and ran pretty good, no more rattle, odd. No smoke, oil pressure sat at 45-50 at idle, in about an 85* building.
Things I found that dont work.
Drivers power seat does nothing.
Passengers power seat, motors make noise but seat doesnt move.
Things missing- Backup lights. Pigtails are there and okay, but the housings are gone.
Headlights, left side fogs and corner lights.
Will need a hood, and 2 complete late style headlight assemblies, and all new fogs and corner lights. Will need a new top.
No rust on the X-brace, and it even still has all original exhaust on it, precats and all.
One thing I noticed was it started a little hard after it ran a few minutes, Im really thinking it may be the fact the gas in the tank smells like varnish? Also that the Reserve light is on, and only showing 1 bar?
Going to start offering at 2,000.00 Asking is almost 4,000

At $2000 I'm with you. If you're patient you can get the parts you need to complete it at a decent price. Closer to $4k, I'd want it with a hood, lights and passing state safety inspections.
It will still need paint, and that's expensive, unless you can do it yourself.
I've had my vert for a year and it's my first convertible. It's a blast.
Good Luck!

Dang there. You are in for quite a summer fixing that one up. Do a search for Corvette Recyclers as you can save quite a lot with used parts.
Keep us posted.

It will need paint, but that also allows you to do something custom. Earlier headlight assembleys will work, but you will need a later bracket that holds the assembely to the hood unless you some sort of spacer. You could always go with custom fixed position headlights as well. Have you priced out paint and parts?

I think $2,000 is toooo much for that 91. It needs a lot of work. Looking at the pictures and if you add the basic parts it will put you few thousands out. How is the engine?
Hood
Lights
Fog Lights
Rear Lights
Vert cloth
Paint Job
Engine?
Its your choice. If you are looking for a project to do then its a different story. A project is the perfect hobby and you'd get total satisfaction.
I'm already planning for a second C4 project, my DD can sleep outside.

Check out your other threads on this before you pull the trigger.
Ads may be expired but theres waaay better deals out there
craigslist los angeles are where the deals are at check it out.
For 4k you can get a decent running C4 that doesnt need everything or have that many miles.
Spend some time with their search function youll be surprised.

I'd restore a C2 or C 3 and only lose a few thousand rather then a C4 and lose 10,000 and have just as much fun ...
Just my opinion...

Ive searched all up through Alabama, through Central Florida, over to Mississippi...There are not any better deals on red late C4 verts.
Seems like from 91-96, if it runs and looks decent, 7K is the minimum, Ive seen Earlier C4's with 100,000ish miles in the 10K range, needing some work.
There is an 86 Vert with literally no paint, all stock, with bad rod knock..for 4K, and he is dead firm on it.

I currently own 6 Corvettes and two of them were projects which I honestly enjoyed doing...BUT if you even think you will come out even close Money wise) to what you will have to invest in this car I honestly think you are NUTS...

I picked up a 76 Stingray red over black, 39K original miles (as documented by registrations and paperwork). Been sitting in a garage for at least 10 years. I got it to fix it up, had 0 rust anywhere at all, all original.
It took me about...ohh, 2 hours of messing with it to realize that as clean and original as it was, C3's were heaps at best, so I flipped it for a profit after owning it for a few days. And to restore a C3, not even going into the engine or trans, just doing the interior, hubs and bearings, brakes, and paint...trim and emblems, you are in the car for many thousands.

Yeah, he keeps relisting it over and over again on CL for the same price, and he has been at it for months. Car needs love.
Then there is a Silver/black 87 coupe, rod knock, 3,000 firm.
There is a Low miles Red/black 1997 Vette for sale for 12K...out of my price range, but the car is a looker!

Im sorry but there seem to be too many overpriced POS out there.
The market is flooded with decent C4s for cheap. Look out this way Red you wont be disappointed. A transport should be under 1k so factor that in. If the car is sound/decent and youre not spending all your time rebuilding the whole damn thing its worth it..at that point youre just tinkering some and driving lots unless you really like working on them.
be patient much to choose from out there.
NOBODY wants a C4 in Ca, they are cheap cheap.

I've been picking 94-96s coupes up for $3k-$4k and driving them home. The convertibles will drop dramatically after June, be patient. You should be able to pick up a 92-6 vert with 120k and needing MINOR tlc for around $5k. Hell, I bought a red 92vert that needed an engine for $1300 last year (non hit body, clean title).
