At what speed do you get your best mpg?

I have experienced 30+ mpg for short periods on the freeway too. However most of the time there are too many, what's the PC term.. morons.. on the road who do not know how to maintain a constant speed, and have zero lane discipline, making a nice steady rate of speed nigh on impossible..
so the whole thing is moot

I went in 5 mph increments at speeds between 50 and 75 mph.....and repeated a couple speeds....nothing better to do that day.
Bottom line was the mpg was virtually constant over that speed range, averaging 30-32 mpg......if anything the 70-75 mph was maybe 1 mpg better than the 50-60 mph readings.
Even by todays technology standards the stock LT4 is an incredible economy car........and yet pretty darn fast!!

I have the most fun at nine miles over the speed limit, so that is where I get the best gas mileage. I lose about 1 to 1.5 mph just having the top down on the freeway, and I am certainly not going to put the top up, so why worry A performance rear end also adds to the fun.

One day when my LT4 was pretty new and still pure stock, I was on the Interstate where the road was pretty flat and using cruise control I held my speed constant for around 2 miles, noted the mpg and then adjusted my speed.....

MPG??? Really??
I drive a Corvette. I don't give two squirts of monkey **** what MPG it gets. Seriously....it isn't something I pay attention to. I drive it, and when the gauge says it's getting low, I pull into Chevron, slip my credit card into the pump, and run it until it clicks off. Then I drive it until it runs low, and repeat. This is why I work....so I can do things like this.
It's only money....you can't take it with you....and I damn sure ain't leaving it for any of my ungrateful family to enjoy.....If I wanted economy, I'd buy an Aveo.

Most of the time the read out in the speedo display says I get better gas mileage at 80 to 85 ( 24 + mpg ) than I get at say in the 70 to 80 range it's only 21 to 23 mpg oh all this is in 6th w/a 3.45 gear.
Last year's trip to Bowling Green from NYC I decided to check how accurate that computer was by keeping all the gas receipts and doing it the old school way on paper. Either I have a bum computer or it don't really know how to divide & add! Round trip, BG & back plus all the driving around down at BG for the C-4 Gathering yielded me an average of 26.66 mpg.
Not bad for a 20 year old car with 20+ year old technology! God I love this car!

I get 10 smiles to the gallon and that's all that matters.
..and Dan, feel free to leave me whatever money is left. I'm as ungrateful as they come but I will make sure the Cat has a warm mat on the floor in the garage

You aren't going to need a very big piggy bank. And I'll leave a nice warm engine compartment for Kittah to climb up into. I'll even put a nice, fluffy pillow next to the serp belt....
