88 35th console serial number, help please
Is there a correlation between VIN and serial number on 35th anniversary cars.
Looking at one with mixed signals. Color, interior, hood emblems, gas emblems, wheels correct but console cover is repop so no info there, and front bumper looks to have been replaced and the rub strip is white paint over black unlike stock 35th. Rest of rub strip white as original.
Serial number emblem on console is missing but remnants of the adhesive are there, in the right place.
Please advise on VIN with regard to anniversary serial number.

NO WAY you can correlate the vin number to the actual car number...
for instance Vin Num xxx11643 was car number 183
Vin Num xxx11928 was car number 13
Vin Mum xxx12001 was car number 194
Vin mum 12027 was car number 127
Check the following
http://www.halerconcepts.com/35th_an...y_corvette.htm
Mine is also missing the console emblem... BUT this guy has some OEM emblems... quite expensive BUT he has the market cornered and I just received mine in the mail earlier this week...($108.00 delivered...OUCH but what the heck...
BTW I did spend a few bucks with the Museum to get my window sticker and build sheet (both laminated) but the car number was not anywhere on them... I did find out mine came from the factory with both a painted top and a Blue tinted top...BUT unfortunately I only have the GLASS top and its BRONZE....

Thanks 24695bob and Y-ME
Looks like this one is somewhere between 0309 and 0387 based on VIN. Narrowed to 76 from 2050.
Ok, so now is there any way to tell which ones had 4+3 from the VIN? I can narrow it down some more that way.

Seems a pricey way to go though.

Just a shot in the dark and a long shot too. The window sticker has the selling dealer. If they are still around there may be a slim chance of them having what car number it was. Didn't know if you thought of that one at all. Good luck in figuring this one out!

Like I said the Build sheet and the window sticker cost me about $85 large (laminated) BUT neither shows what the actual number of the car truly is... The build sheet is a goldmine of info..and as I noticed mine came with both tops BUT the one on the car was not one of them... oh well...
Now to drive the car this summer and see if I can stand the steering wheel which is the only cosmetically challenged part of the car besides the Alpine Radio that was in in...
Only other problem is with the electronic ac/heater control ...the light is out so I have no clue what Temp I have it set at...everything works but I have yet to get around to seeing if the light bulb is easy or a PIA to replace...
I never though about calling the dealer ... maybe worth the try...

Hey Bob
Hey Vettecrazy88,
I'm a proud owner of a 1988 35th Anniversary Edition (#1224) as well. It would bother me too if I didn't know what number my car was, especially if it's a rare 4+3 equipped ANC. Did you check the 35th Anniv. registry? Perhaps they can help you since it is solely devoted to our cars.

Good luck with your search, and keep us posted.

From the list of vin numbers and car numbers I get the following for my car
vin car number
xxx15061 532
xxx15082 MINE .. not on list & I ain't got no plaque
xxx15181 784
xxx15203 760
Notice my car was built 19 cars after car number 532..
yet 99 cars before car 784 ... The Math does not "compute"
toss in the fact that car 760 (vin xxx15203)was built 22 cars AFTER after car 784 (xxx15181) according to the vins... you have to wonder what kind of NEW Math the factory used...
Personally I do not think you can narrow it down any better then one out of 2,050... by using the vin numbers
Bottom line is that I am happy with my car and when I make the plaque I'll label it xxxx (fourx) like the name on the popular brand of condoms when I was a young man lol
