I already had (have) a 67 435HP coupe. I wanted to try something newer so I looked at C4 ZR-1s, C5 Z06s, and C6 Z06s. There is just something very special in my mind about the LT5. So a 1995 ZR-1 now shares my garage with the 67.

Actually wanted an LT1 Z28 or SS. They were all pretty hammered then started looking at LS1 Camaros. Found what I wanted but when I saw how far under the cowl the motor was figured I wouldnt want to wrench on it so settled for a C4.

For the contenders at the time (C3 to C5) there's no question. I still haven't warmed up to the C5...

I had a '65 coupe for ten years. It was hot, grumpy, hard to live with, marched to its own beat, and I just loved it.
However, when it came time to look for a second Corvette (30 years after I bought the '65), I couldn't afford another '65.
The first Vette I test drove was an '89 six speed - and I loved it. However, ... I discovered that driving a car with a busted AC in July was NOT the kind of fun I wanted to have ... there's a difference between what I dreamed about and what reality was ...
In short, I had changed, and I wasn't sure that having the same kind of Vette would be 'fun' now. The '89 gave way to more test drives, and six months later, I bought the '95 that I've had for just over five years.
What I really like about the C4 is that you know you're in a Vette - and you can enjoy the raw ... windows down, AC off, lots of noise, and the same thrill of the pull in second gear (six speed w/4.11 gears!).
But when my wife and I want to spend an evening out, or take a nine hour run down to Bowling Green, we just roll up the windows in the C4, set the temperature, set the cruise, and enjoy the trip.
I love my C4.
I've also driven a C5 to BG, and I put 1100 miles a C6. They are both great cars, but the C4 is closer to the '65 - and I'm not yet ready to move on.
So, I got a C4 because I chose - and I'm glad I did.

C4 of Year Finalist (appearance mods) 2019
Back in 05 I could have bought an early C5 or a late modle C4. Drove several of each and really liked the way the C4 felt. 90,000 miles later I'm still realy happy with my C4

Just wondering how many C4 owners really wanted a C4 or was it just because it was affordable. I really wanted a 62 C1 or a big block C2. Mind you I love my C4, but if I could afford one of my dream Corvettes I would drop my C4 in a instant. I wonder how many feel the same way?

Yep....I wanted a ZR-1...........but even then I didn't know how special they were until after becoming an owner. Didn't think it would ever be a reality given how expensive, and exclusive they were new! Sometimes, I would look into the garage, and just feel good, that I finally owned what was sitting there in the garage! I also bought primarily for mechanicl reasons of the ZR-1, and didn't truly appreciate the styling of the C-4 before I bought. I though it was ok, but it was only after seeing it a lot, and at many different angles, that I really began to appreciate the styling.........it really does look pretty sinister from a lot of different angles! I really like my '73 big block car, but when it came to sell one, it was a no brainer!

Like "OldCorvetteFan" I had a 67 as my first vette. Years, and years later, after the car was long gone, I wanted another vette. Couldn't afford a '67, so looked at what was as close as possible to what I owned. That is, it had to be green, tan interior, manual transmission, tan top convertible, with the additional hard top. The only difference so far is my old hard top was black vinyl, and this one matches the color of the car. Saw it on eBay, and had only 20,000 miles on it at the time. My first one was "used" also, so I knew this one was meant to be mine!

Okay, here I go.
I didn't know much about Corvettes before I bought me C4. Honestly, I bought it on a whim and paid a little too much for it. That was back in 2007. I started to research it, and became fascinated with the entire generation. The more I read, the more I liked it. I found out about the ZR_1 and the Callaway Corvettes and pretty much fell in love. I even talked to one of my buddies who worked at a Laguna Seca every once and awhile about how they need to bring out a new ZR-1 type package. His comment? "No comment". I found out 6 months later about our beloved Project Blue Devil. Then I started blowing stuff up, like my head gasket and my trans and got into the nitty girtty of it.
I liked my C4 when I first bought it. Regretted it a year later. Now, I have fallen in love with it.
Okay, blben4 might have the best reason.

In 1989, I was 16 years old and a brand new 6-speed Corvette coupe was the car I dreamt of owning. I knew the ZR-1 was on the way but somehow the simplicity and familiarity of the TPI L98 appealed more to me more than the exotic LT5.
Ten years later, despite having enough funding to purchase a brand new C5, I searched for over a year to find my '89 6-speed coupe. It was (and still is) my first car.
Wouldn't have done it any other way.

Maybe it's because I was born in the 80's, but I actually prefer the C4 look to the C5 or C6, so this one was easy for me.
That said, I really wasn't in the market for anything when I found this car. Just happened to find it by accident and was hooked

Always wanted a Vette, but thought ALL Corvettes were rich guys cars and I'd never be able to afford one. A friend started dragging me around with him while looking for a C5. I looked at a lot of cars with him and saw a real nice white C4 that was priced so a poor boy like me could actually have a Vette! Took my wife to look at it and it drove off the lot just as we drove in! I pointed to a beautiful Polo Green LT4 that had been parked next to it and said, How do you like that one? Well she loved it and let me have it! Being a Ford guy for the last 25 years, I had no clue what LT4 meant. Boy did I ever find out and was I ever lucky to fall into this one!!!
