Hi all I'm new to the site and I'm new to the Corvette. I have a 70 Dodge Coronet R/T that I was restoring and had a stroke a few years ago.
I'm unable to finish the project and I have been offered in trade a 1987 Corvette convertiable.
What I know on the Corvette as of right now.
The car was originally black with a tan top and is now a red car with a tan top. The car needs tires and some exhaust work.
I was told the door locks need to be fixed and shouldnt be a big deal.
So tell me is this a big deal?
Can I find parts for this and are they easy to find or hard?
The steering wheel was also changed out at one point and has an incorrect one. How hard are they to find? Is this a high dollar item for this Vette?
The car also was repainted at one time and changed from black to red. If I do get the car I will drive it for awhile and then change it back.
I know with out pictures its hard to tell what the value would be but if you guys can give me a range in what they go for in drivable condition to restored condition that would be great.
Also what do I need to look for in trouble spots on the this year?
My Dodge is very rare car and I hate to get rid of it but if someone else can restore it and get back on the road I would like to see that happen.
I was told the motor in the Vette is a 350 fuel injected. Would this be correct? I forgot to ask about the transmission because I just wasnt sure I was really interrested in this car or not. I think now I am.
I guess give me some fax and what to look for and any and all info is of great help for the MOPAR muscle car guy.
Thanks everyone.
PS if the questions sound dumb I'm sorry. I know the parts I have chased down for my R/T have been hard to find and I really dont care to do that again or pay high prices.
How's the engine running ? parts are easy to find and yes its a tuned port injection 350 , please ask for pictures, i would love to see pictures of your mopar as well , how advanced was on the resto ???
I very respectfully suggest you get in & out of the Vette to see if you can. If your stroke affected you in certain ways getting in & out could be a major problem.
I'm not trying to be rude or sarcastic, an I apoligize if it sounds like it , but if your dodge is as rare as you say, you're trading for a vette (and I own an 87) that from how you've described it , or had it described to you, is worth not more than $3000 probably less. Midnight 85 hit it right on the head when he mentioned getting in and out of it, fritz said it right when he said you could probably do a lot better , probably on this site.....I just ran a search on your dodge, I'm not going to mention what they're selling for , but you can get a much nicer vette, if thats what you want.

Yeah, an R/T Coronet is quite valuable. If it's complete and not completely rotted out, someone will buy it in whatever state it's in and you will be able to buy most any C4 you want. 60's Mopars (and other muscle of the era) aren't growing on trees anymore.
