It was pleasant yesterday. I drove the vette with the windows open, hoping to clear some of the gasoline smell left over from the fuel pump & sending unit work. The mechanic say's there aren't any leaks. I don't want to show up for the inspection reeking of gas fumes.
Drove by the inspection site today to be sure of the route. Just as I feared---speed bumps at the entrance! I tossed a board in the back & am hoping I won't have a crowd behind me when I deploy it.
Be prepared to demonstrate that you are street-legal height, which IIRC
means nothing lower than the metal part of the wheels. Do check the
rules as the low-riders and currently popular REALLY low profile tires on
really big diameter wheels might of changed something, one way or the
other.
Might be worth taking the front air dam off just so as not to wave a red
flag in front of the CARB bull.
And best wishes for tomorrow. Not good luck, it will come from effort,
not luck.
Provide EO sticker for EROD engine?!?!? not provided with engine, will have to contact Chevy
Oem intake tube and air box for 2011 Camaro?!?!? no intake tube provided with engine. Instructions only mention required dimensions of intake.
EO# for TCU?!?!?! Called TCI & they'd never heard of this either and are checking.
Stored codes/incomplete monitors: haven't driven it much since Borelli's tuned it, hopefully that's all that's needed.
O2 sensor installation: d'oh! The manifold used on the passenger side had a sensor bung so that's where it was installed---referee wanted to see it in the exhaust tube.
He didn't flag the CAT height...but I saw in his hand notes he'd noticed it had scraped a couple of speed bumps.
Make your own E.O. sticker. The number is known and it is just expected to be displayed to make it easier for the smog guy to look it up. Not sure what they expect of the airbox, but go ahead and try to source one and let it hang loose to just get thru the certification part.

An EO sticker does come with the kit....p/n 19258176.
The 2011 intake should not be necessary. The kit instructions only specify the air filter element from the kit, the proper length of tubing and where to place the MAF sensor. Have the ref READ the instructions. He is misinformed!
The TCM comes with the kit, thus falls under the EROD EO# for the kit!
The O2 sensors will need to be installed per the instructions to pass visual.
Isn't it curious even with the few things he found "wrong", the package easily passed the smog test!!! Isn't that the point of the test? Clean air!!!
Just a bunch of red tape and BS to prevent the citizens of CA from enjoying their hobbies!!!
Good luck. I hope you can get you Referee sticker soon!

You betcha! COMMON SENSE would say that if it passes the emission criteria, it has met the criteria that really matters. But there is no "common sense" in CA or in this retarded, confrontational system that they've implemented. Car won't pass b/c of dubious "issues"...but they'll pass a car with no brakes, no shocks, and tires with cords showing. F'n stupid place.

Looked at the parts list...there are two emissions stickers listed...gonna have to find out what became of them.
There is no TCM in the kit, as far as I can see. Can you point it out to me in the instructions?

My bad. You are correct, there is no mention of a TCM in the EO for the EROD kit. So how can the referee require a TCM for a 2011 Camaro?
The kit was designed by GM and approved by the CA ARB to pass the smog regulations independent of the type of transmission mated to the kit.
This is another example of the BAR Ref over stepping their authority and making/creating policy that is incorrect and inconsequential to the letter of the law. Hold them (nicely) to what is written in the EO for the EROD package!
Which BAR Referee site did you visit? I dealt briefly with the referee at Las Positas college when I was considering and EROD swap into a NC MX-5. He did not know much about the kit or the EO. He called his supervisor, but still would not give me enough information on what I needed to do for a CARB legal swap. Not real helpful!!
I went to the Evergreen College facility & the referee also called his supervisor (& gave me the sup's phone number).
I think there are two things leading to the TCU ding: the OBDII couldn't communicate with it, and any change is fair game. I'm going to call a guy at GM I've brainstormed with before and talk this all over with him next week. Maybe I can push back on the intake and TCU with GM's support.
My main concern is the exhaust system. My GM contact said the manifold I'm using is ok, but the cat's just don't fit & I'm not sure there's anything that can be done, short of modding the body or frame. The ref didn't ding me on this, but from what I could see of his hand notes he was thinking about it. I wish I could have heard what he was saying when he called his sup, I was just too far away for my old ears.
In the meantime if anyone wants to slap long tube headers on this and take it off my hands PM me. No low ball bids, though. I'm willing to get it WA legal and give it to my brother, push-comes-to-shove.
Spent some time with the installation instructions---the O2 sensor is exactly where specified!
This is the kind of stupid BS that the inspectors will ignore just to give you a hard time. I've yet to talk to someone who didn't want to punch the inspector after getting their car looked at.. except for one person who was a BS artist and managed to out-BS the inspector.
