Sorry, I spent most of last week living in a tent taking fiddle lessons.

They've increased the priority on this project & I'm hoping to collect it soon. The exhaust system and accessories were being worked on when I checked in Monday. They were checking the height change when I called---2"!!! I asked for a quote for lowering it. Not sure wedges alone can drop it that much, may have to go for coil overs or add some lead to the frame somewhere (seriously). I'll post pictures when I get 'em.

I ended up using a set of C5 Z06 headers. They required some massaging but they're in there with about 2 mm clearance. I'm not happy with that, but I need to get this thing on the road.

I guess I should update my own thread

Are we all going to be done in the next week?

It turns out they're going to use both manifolds---the F-body on one side and the Corvette manifold on the other---to avoid scalding stuff like wiring, fuel lines, body panels, etc. Modifying the exhaust tubing and fabricating heat shields is taking some time, but is important. Don't want it to catch fire while I'm driving it home, eh?

"Done next week" would be nice. They're motivated to wrap this up, and getting awfully close, but I don't have a plane ticket yet.

They used the original motor mounts and adapters of their own manufacture:

Just a 45day rule bump.

The exhaust has been an issue, the CAT configuration provided just doesn't seem to fit on the passenger's side with either manifold---the second CAT is about an inch lower than the rest of the car in the best fit so far. The easiest solution would be to move the second CAT back where the original '87 second cat is located, but the feedback I'm getting is this would be a problem with the CA BAR referee inspection. GM performance just started their own forum, & has an EROD section, so I asked about this there. They said they'd put a GM tech in touch with me, but that hasn't happened yet. The EROD installation instructions say other LS manifolds can be used & the shop is confident an older C5 manifold will provide the room needed & they're shopping for one now.

Other work is proceeding apace---wiring modifications, lowering the car, ground upgrade to the digi-dash---but the main thing holding up first start is the exhaust.

Not sure if it will help your shop or not, but if they want to see where my mini-cats were mounted when my LS3 hot cam was installed, have them google "C4orce2" and look for the photobucket. The photobucket has an album on the build of the car with pics showing the headers and the location of the mini-cats. Hope that helps them.

Thanks, but the issue is trying to comply strictly with the EO (executive order) that makes the EROD package smog legal in CA. To do so we have to follow the installation instructions to the letter & they are very specific regarding the CAT and O2 sensor locations. They're a little vague about the location of the second CAT---but I'm told, by folks who know, there's no wiggle room.

I understand. I'm certainly glad I live in AZ and had the car built here. I've been told that it would most likely be impossible to even register C4orce2 in CA. Wish I could be of more help!

I appreciate your support.

Worst that can happen is I end up giving up on emissions and give the car to my brother.

I just got a PM from GM saying how to get in touch with a tech, so we may find a solution after all.

Glad you're seeing it out to the end, no matter what the outcome. I've been working on my wiring for over a month and still have some left to do.. Good luck.

It will never bolt on the way it was designed. Yes, it needs the cats to snif properly in California, but it doesn't mean the locations may not be customized. As long go to a SMOG station with the proper CARB papers, you have cats installed and it passes the sniffer you are good to go. The way the C5/C6 cats fit is not the ay it would fit on any other Corvette. A professional job will not draw any attention against it.

There are millions of HOT RODS in California, SMOG shops are no strangers to the types of changes. Find a SMOG shop own by a gear head and he will fully understand
