Default Paint rotor hats or not?

I'll be purchasing new rotors and pads from a vendor here soon, and as the title says, should i paint the hats? I like the look of them painted, but don't want the paint to start peeling and flaking off.

I've been looking at duplicolor ceramic paint that says it will stand up to the heat that the rotors will produce. Has anyone here used duplicolor to paint their rotors and does the paint stand up for a long period of time? Or can anyone recommend a specific paint that i could use that will stand up? Thanks in advance.

I can't remember which paint I used, I just got heat resistant black paint from Walmart and it's been fine for 4 years.

I always paint them or they end up rusty. I've used several different high temp paints and they last pretty well. I spray bomb the rotor and then drag the brakes down the driveway. This lets the pads clean off the swept area. It makes some paint dust though. Custom rotor black out kit:

I did not paint my rotors when I first replaced them, and now have the rust that I was hoping to avoid. I was thinking of painting mine silver so it is not so obtrusive in color, and would blend in with the silver rotors. I planned on using the caliper paint sold at some automotive stores for that.

Does the paint on the friction surface not contaniminate the pads when you do this?

Not sure how it could. Here is an after pic:

I didn't bed the pads, just dragged the brakes down the driveway. I suppose the paint could transfer film to the rotor like the pads do if you try hard enough.

Do you get any noise when braking?

Can't hear much for noises over the track pads squealing.

I would clean them to original new or remove any shipping coating then spray them with high temp clear coat. There are also high temp cast iron colors too.

This is a VERY NICE touch ! ! I have a question tho.....I understand the one guy "dragged" his brakes to clean the rotor.....What did the rest of you do to get such a nice clean paint line??? How difficult woudl it be to get the old rotors clean enough to do this to???? I really like this touch. I have the original calipers too and they look terrible with the spoke wheels i just bought.

Lots and lots of small pieces of masking tape.

Brake cleaning spray does a good job of cleaning calipers.
