I need to replace the light bulb socket for the shifter on my 1995 . Mine also has one but will probably install two. Any thoughts on where to get these? NAPA?

I've replaced almost all my interior lights with blue leds so I figured I would also do the shift indicator. I had known for some time that there was only one bulb so I bought two new sockets and two blue spade type led bulbs & wired them in. I really like the look with the blue lights, white bulbs may be too bright with two of them.

I'm in the process of installing a factory 89 shifter/plate in my 85 for the 700R4 (I removed the Quick Silver shifter).

The console plate I bought does not come with the bulbs for the indicator light. Does anyone have a part number for the bulb sockets?

I would be OK with a NAPA part number, it does not need to be a GM OEM part.

Does anyone have a part number for this BULB SOCKET? It seems like its one of the hardest items to find... I don't mind fabricating something, but would rather have a nice fit.

ANYBODY?

I doubt there is a separate bulb socket available. Usually they were part of a harness and not sold separately. That said, you might want to look at this:

Funny thing is that when I bought my C4 auto ,( 5 years ago now ) the part that shows PRND21 was blank so I bought a new one but it did not sit properly in place in the consul , so had to get it to sit right by moving into correct position and fastening with screws at each end through the plate and put the bulb at the 1 end , It got that hot that it burnt out the window up & down switch . Lesson learned and put the bulb at the P end . No big deal really , but when it happened it was raining hard and the window was down . Cheers

I've always thought these would be a fit BUT all of the resellers have them and they should also do the C5 if you're wanting that badly. Take either of the numbers in this thread to an AP store of your choice and I'd think you're OK. I ain't never tried one but I'd think it's a match. The 12007642 is actually part #'d for the '90+ C4 so ....

The general was saving pennies maybe?
Anyways I installed the second bulb and the illumination was way too bright.
Removed it...

Swap the standard bulb for a bright white LED bulb and you will not need an extra bulb.

Hey Cliff... thanks, great selection at that site; I can certainly make it work given those options. Now that I've repainted the entire shift plate which required removing the shift boot.... I see that 2 of the screwholes for the boot have broken off due to age/brittleness. Will have to perform some kind of surgery on that as well. You already know the foibles of a c4 Vette i'm sure.

I looked at the voltage coming to this bulb and it was somewhere close to 8V. How do you match that voltage with the white LED?
