88 Vette - I have a non-Bose system and need to replace the front speakers. I also have dash clusters bulbs recently go out so need to replace them while I'm in there.

When I went to replace the speakers last week, I removed the screws to the dash cap and when I went to slide it up and out I then noticed the speakers are attached to the dash. Given they are a couple inches deep, and the wiring is connected, I could not pull the dash pad out, essentialy tethered and won't slide out.

Anyone gone through this before and how did you accomplish replacement of the speakers?

Perhaps removing the A-pillar trim will give enough height on the pad to reach the speaker wires???
