Thank you
There seems to be a lot more 255x40zr18 tires than 255x40zr16 tires out there today. My biggest concern was taking a trip, have a tire issue and not be able to get a replacement in a timely manner. This way at least there should be a lot more options available, probably at least 15 to 1 from what I found when I was looking. I went with BFG G-sport tires as other than being old I was happy with how they performed on the car.
I've had the new ones on since Feb 2017 and so far I have not noticed any downsides to them. They ride and handle at least as well as the originals did which were on the car when I bought it in 2013. I replaced my old tires because they were about 10 years old, so taking that into account I think the new ones stick equal or better than the original sized ones did when new.
If I had to do it again, being this is a keeper car for me, I'd do it again in a heart beat.

I"ve been looking at the Riken Raptors for my 95. Riken is a Chinese made brand owned by Michelin. Tirerack is at $86 per tire for the 275/40-17.The tire is classified as "Ultra High Performance, Summer". It gets good ratings and for that price might be worth a try. FWIW, what isn't made in China any more? My last Dunlops came from Taiwan.
