Could anyone tell me how much one might expect to pay for a rear end alignment? I am noticing excessive tire wear on the right rear tire. I was told this is what I need.
When you do the rear, you usually need to do all four. I pay around $200 for a proper 4-wheel alignment. Probably need to check the rear toe rods and the bushings in the camber bars.
You cannot align just the rear, you have to do a 4 wheel alignment.
$200, WOW. You can get one around here for $100. These cars are not that hard to align, unless your lazy/idiot.
I typically spend about 2 hours aligning my Corvette on a alignment rack/machine. I doubt you'll find a more perfectly aligned car anywhere. Dialed in exactly where I want it. Stuff torqued to specs. Toe set dead on zero, front. Etc, Etc....
FYI, the rear camber eccentrics have a habit of moving around, torque them to specs. I think my 93 is 186 ft-lbs. Mark them so you can see if they move. 4 auto-x's this year, mine are still dead on, where I set them.
The shop I use generally charges $100 for a 4 wheel alignment, but I have paid up to $200. As long as the technician knows what he's doing, I don't mind the charge, it saves money in the long run and keeps the car handling the way it was meant to.
I can get one done for $99, but I don't trust them as far as I can throw the alignment machine. Have used four different alignment shops over the years and the only one worth a damn, I paid $235.
