Putting togther a spare detail and emergency kit
Greetings,
I'm in the process of putting together a spare things / emergency kit for my car and was looking for ideas to add to it. It started with a scaled down detail kit, which would let me do the same job at home anywhere I wish with only carrying enough needed to get the job done. I utilized 1-ounce spray and squirt bottles to keep size compact. Idea here is I use to detail my car then drive two hours to a car show and by the time I’d get there it would be plastered with bugs. Now I can do the detail there and not have to bring a box with all the clunky and cumbersome full size bottles. I can also spot treat anything like bird poop instantly on the go as well.
Detail items:
1oz. Bottle of Windex
1oz. Bottle of Quick Detailer
1oz Bottle of polish/wax (enough for entire car 1-2 times)
1oz. Bottle of tire shine
A couple microfiber towels and a spare sponge for the tire shine.
Emergency items:
First aid kit
Spare Fuses
Jumper cables
Leatherman multitool
Tire gauge
Wheel Lock Adapter
Road flares and triangle
Compact rain poncho
Gloves of some sort
Road maps (I don’t have nav)
Pen and a Sharpie
Envelope with spare cash/credit card and towing section torn out of from yellow pages
Idea here is to only have items that are not everyday glovebox fare will be tucked ‘elsewhere’ in the car and to be used in a pinch while keeping it as small as possible.
Any other tips to add to the list would be appreciated.
Regards,

Are you planning a road trip?

Nope, but the idea of that would be nice.
This is more for an everyday if ***** happens while on the road and just in case items but micro sized like the detail stuff.
Odds are if I were having difficulty a majority of motorists are going to have very little if any of the items I listed. Some don't even carry the simplest things like jumper cables, money or even a license.
I'd rather be prepared for whatever the road may bring.

Spare fuses (at least one of each kind of amp).
This may not classify as "emergency equip" but I always keep a spare PKE battery in my C4 paired with a mini phillips for the screws. Since the PKE batt doesnt last longer than a few months.
Maybe a spare door key (in case of lockout)?? well-hidden under the body somewhere.
All of these suggestions are very small and won't take up much room.

I needed a funnel once for adding a bit of oil. I was drinking a bottled water and eating my sandwich in a rest area, when It dawned on me that the top end of the water bottle would make a perfect funnel and if I put it in my ziplock sandwich bag, it would fit down in the Rt. side fender and always be handy. It's still in there!

It's okay, nobody would ever find it and it is a real PITA if I had to access it but it is there.
I like the fuses idea, those are going in my first aid 'tube'
I may add a nutdriver with 7mm 10mm and a crescent wrench. That should cover alot of ground. I don't expect to be doing any kind of major repair on the road.
@PLRX Funny thing I was thinking of stashing a 1/2" breaker bar under the hood for the tensioner. A few years back I replaced the serpentine and stashed the old one in the RF corner of the nose. But without a breaker I'd be S.O.L.
Another thing I just thought of...the wheel lock key if you have one, nicely hidden of course.

Just remember, never leave home without being member of AAA, and get the plus, for 100 miles of free towing.

I like the idea of the Green Angels
In the states help comes in the form of the highway police who want you to remove your vehicle off the roadway ASAP (in other words towed). Most are not going to attempt to help you with a quick fix or be your personal AAA.
On a side note I'd be inclined to pull over and help a stranded driver in a C4. Someone in a broken down Prius not so much.

I always stop when people are broken down. I always want people to stop for me too (though I've only only ever broken down once 30+ years and thousands of miles on nearly every continent).
