Default Above 200MPH on stock speedo?

Anyone have a video of a factory speedometer in a C4 above 200MPH?

It looks like it's physically possible for the first digit to display a 2. Mine shows a backwards 6 during the "lamp test" at key-on, so it appears that the segments are there.

Now I'm wondering if one of my segments is bad. It seems like it should display 8 instead of 6. I guess it's not important, since I won't need that segment until 400 MPH...

The only person I know who has gone over 200 MPH in a C4 is Ed Van Scoy. Interesting side note: He bought the '85 Corvette from my optometrist. He told me that to get into the 200 MPH club you not only have to go over 200 MPH, but you also have to beat the old record by some percentage I don't remember -- 3%? 5%? He wears a BIG ring that he's very proud of.

His instrument panel isn't stock though:

No video, but a pic demonstrating it can display those speeds if you can reach them....

Mine was the result of a faulty VSS (note the low rpm )

Its possible - convert the MPH to KPH to display...

200 KPH = 125 MPH

I was under the impression the OP was talking about the early digital dashes, but I could be wrong.

just pull the vss and spin it with a high speed dremel. Then you will know how high it can go.

You should be able to just turn on ignition and spin the vss and it will work.

His signature lists a 1990 Corvette which would have a dash and IP similar to mine

Already have.

Please read signature.

I don't have the speedo connected because I have a transmission without a speedo output. I don't want to spend money to get it working if the stock speedo only goes to 200 like some have said.

I've seen references to signatures in the past but I don't see them. What's up with that?

I tried setting my own signature, but I don't see that either.

Maybe there's a setting somewhere that I'm missing.

[EDIT]: Found the "Show signatures" setting. It was unchecked.

It doesn't show his signature from where I'm sitting.

On a side note I can't never get my signature to work??

You have to turn it on...

User CP (top left side of the screen) / Edit Options (left side of screen) / Thread Display Options (about 2/3 of the way down the page) and then check the box to show signatures.

Its in a box called Visible Post Elements - above Thread Display section.

Seems odd. If a subscriber adds a signature, defauit setting should automatically show it? Mine still doesn't show up! I must be missing something?
