Sorry to read your story, and I know how you felt when you saw your car on flames. That pit in the stomach feel.
But glad you are ok, and the insurance paid up and you got your car. Yeah its a mess, but now your ready to start over.
good luck

Wow, real sorry to read about your car, but glad the insurance co. came through. I'm not sure if I would have been able to take a picture, especially of the fireman with the axe!

the insurance came threw with no problems, i will be recieving the check in the next few days my insurance is hagerty and i had it insured for $12,000.00, the best part out of all of this mess with my poor corvette burning is that i got to buy it back for salvage value. i want you folks to be sitting down when i tell you how much the salvage value was. i had to ask her to repeat the price of the salvage twice, when she said the salvage value was...............$175.00 i almost fell out of my chair, yes $175.00. i told her sure ill buy it back. i have another 88 found to replace this one with it is an automatic car, i will be putting my tremic 5 speed in it, kiesler engineering has the few parts that i need to complete the conversion. thanks for everones support.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My 92 went up in flames 53 hours after having a new battery installed. I'm in a legal action against the shop and would welcome anyone who has information that may help my case. Did you ever find the cause of your fire?

We want pics on your new build and new vette. Hopefully the new one you got didn't eat too much into the 12k you got

Not C4 related but a long time ago a buddy and I had just swapped heads on a BB 66 and we were trying to set the valves. Very typical oil getting sprayed from the rockers and the next thing we knew we had a fire.
Now when I set the valves I will turn the car off if there is smoke on the exhaust and let it cool off and use cleaner to get the oil off and then continue with the adjustment. So if you have a leak from the valve covers be careful about driving the car.
One other thing we did was buy an old pair of covers and cut the top off so we could get to the rocker nuts and not have oil dripping off the head onto the exhaust.
