Good friend has a red 92 coupe orig owner.
Took it to the museum during one of the gatherings.
Zora and McClellen signed the owners manual.
Looking to get it top flight judged.

I am the original owner of my 1990 and I ordered on my 26th birthday. Here is a link to the thread I started telling the story for those of you who have not read it: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...n-indiana.html

You beat me by one day, May 12, 1983 mine went out of the showroom but I had not have the financing problem it would have been April 1983.

I went back to my bank and got the $23,000 in small bills, mostly 20s, 50s, 100s since the bank didn't have any larger denominations. Brought the money back in a large brown paper bag and it took the dealership owner over an hour to count it all (he had to count it twice of course). When I went to drive the car off the lot it ran out of gas (the owner had told the service manager to prep the car and syphon out all the gas). I went back to the showroom but the owner couldn't be located. The salesman I had dealt with was very apologetic, told me he was quitting at the end of the week, and said the owner was a real a**hole. He went back to the shop and got a 2 gallon tank of gas to get me started and gave me $20.00 for a fill-up. I wrote a letter to the head of the Chevrolet Motor Division relating my experience with this dealer and within two years the place had become a used car lot. I'm not sure if my letter had anything to do with them losing their franchise but if they treated their other customers the way I was it was only a matter of time before they'd be out of business.
I noticed you are in NJ...don't know if you were back them but if yes, which Chevy dealer was that?

May I ask what you are saving it for? You know, someone else is going to get all the fun left in it. I say, use it up. These cars are way too fun to drive to be left sitting in a garage.

Yeah, I was 27 and am now 58. Life don't get any better.

What great stories. Keep 'em coming gang.

My wife still kids me about going to the store with a white Vert and coming home with a red one which I still have.
The saga continues: Just after I posted this thread I saw Kerbecks ad for clearing out '13s and offering a $5K factory incentive plus their discount which came to $39K for a new base '13 auto coupe. Made a big mistake and bought it....no Vert, no stick. Sold the '90 locally that summer. Kept the '13 for 2 years and sold it with 1400 miles on the clock for 36K.

Missed having a Vette and found a '74 stick roadster at a BMW dealer near my Son in north Jersey on CL. Sent him to check it out and bought it sight unseen. Great car with 37K original miles.

Had the '74 about a year and my Son calls to tell me my '90 is up for sale on CL and would I go look at it for him and buy it if condition and price was right...which I did.

Right away I knew I needed the '90 so I talked my Son into taking the '74 and the '90 is back home in my garage. But I miss the '74......

Great story. Sounds like you got some catching up to do.

I traded my 76 in on my 85. I can safely say, I don not miss my 76.

I've had multiple 'Vettes since the '84 ('89, '97, '03, '05, '14) but for some reason I've never thought about selling/trading it. Feels like a comfortable pair of shoes when I drive it. I took delivery on my wife's birthday in the year we were married, so it has family history of sorts. I'm sure one of my sons will inherit it. The C7 is certainly more fun to drive so I use it for road trips, etc. I had the electronic dash repaired a few years ago and replaced the power antenna ribbon. Now the A/C needs some work. I'll deal with that in the Spring and try to add some more miles next Summer. I still have the original tires on original wheels and a second NOS set that I purchased from Goodyear when they were depleting the unique '84 style with the recessed lettering. I currently have BFG's on a second set of reconditioned '84 wheels I purchased a few years ago. Not comfortable driving on 30+ year old tires!

Ordered my 1989 Z51 6 speed in November, 1988. Delivered in February, 1989. First new car I owned. Daily driver until about 1998, weekend driver subsequently. About 70K miles, all original except brake linings, tires, injectors, and a few small parts. Now that I'm retired, hope to drive it more...

Purchased my new 1986 Coupe in October of 1985. The dealer said it would not be delivered until March. In November of '85 he called and said it was there. Had to store it for a few months before I could really drive it much. Been to the west coast several times and the east coast once. Great freeway car. Now has 91K miles.

I saw a Grandsport in June of 1996 at my local dealership near my house, the markup over sticker was like 10 grand. The car was gone a month later.
In December of 1996 I went to another dealership about 60 miles away. I test drove a GrandSport and really liked it but that dealership wanted full sticker so I left.
One of my friends became sales manager at that first local dealership near my house. I asked if he could get the GrandSport from the dealership 60 miles away and how much it would cost me.
He told me it would be dealer invoice, I told him go get it for me. Little did I know this was the same car that I originally saw in June of 1996 near my house where my friend works. I guess the two dealerships would trade vehicles between each other.
I have 44,000 miles on my GrandSport and it has been a fun ride.😎

Second owner of my 87 bought in 89. Original owner had a standing order for a new Vette every two years. Had 23K when I bought it, now at 165,000.

This is really cool and a beautiful car!

I'm not the original owner of a C4, but recently stopped by a house to ask about an '84 that's sat in my neighborhood and caught my eye for many years. It turns out that the car still belongs to the original owner, is a Z51/4+3 car, was autocrossed extensively early on, and has over 250K miles on it. Kinda cool. I was impressed!

I bought my Ruby new and it has almost 71,000 miles. I still have the window sticker and I pulled out the build sheet from the frame.

As for my 89 Z51, I believe I am the third owner.

Oh, sorry. Only had my '84 4+3 since 4/85 and still have short hair, now a different color. Both have over 100,000 miles on 'em.
