Default Value of 1990 Vette

I'm looking to sell my 1990 Corvette to make space for a '67 Impala SS I'll be restoring. Wish I could have both, but funds and garage space are too tight. Was just wondering what I should be looking at getting for it.

Base model L98 "Vin 8" engine. Bought a short block crate motor from Blueprint, so practically brand new. Just got it running today, so has about 16 miles on it. They call it a 355 cause it's bored .040 over. Recycled the original heads, valves replaced.
Automatic
Hard top coupe (Targa top)
Dark red/maroon
147k miles on it
Tires maybe have 3k miles on em
Shocks are all brand new
Brand new power steering pump
Has an aftermarket 6 disc CD changer, installed by previous owner
Already did the tach fix

Paint job is pretty decent, slight fading from the sun here in NM. Interior is tan leather, definitely 20 years old, but doesn't look too bad. Replaced the majority of the weatherstripping. She runs great, no known issues, but that could change of course further into the break in period.

I still have the original engine that I will either sell with the car for anyone looking to restore it for car shows, or sell separately. It has a cracked piston which was knocking, causing me to replace it.

Any thoughts on what I should be asking for?

Doesn't look like I get to post attachments, so unless I'm overlooking how to post pics...I'll add em to my garage. Impala pics tonight, I'll get to taking some more pics of the vette tomorrow. Already a couple up.

Here at the C4 Forums, the value of the car is largely dependent on what you are doing with it. Here's a primer:

1) Buying from non-Forum Member: deduct 50% from book value
2) Buying from another Forum Member: deduct 25%
3) Buying from dealership: low-ball them so hard that they laugh you out the door
4) Selling to third party: Add 50%
5) Selling to forum member: depends on whether I know him

I'm kidding of course but it's certainly a real blast buying and selling here. You will get a lot of opinions.

My own opinion is that your car is worth in the $4500 range. The new motor helps, probably. The miles and the overall description of the car seem to suggest that it's nice overall but not a show-stopper.

A photobucket account would allow you to embed <IMG> links and post pictures right in the thread. If ou want to PM me and arrange to get me the files I will post them in my account. Add to the Corvette **** collection. :-)

147,000 miles on the rest of the car is going to hurt the value. Even with the new crate motor transplanted in, expect $4500.00 to $5500.00 from the "right buyer". A buyer on this forum? Expect $2500.00 to $3500.00 from a few and you'll have to deliver it.

This is exactly why I would rather burn the tires off my 90 and leave it smoking like a cash for clunkers Corvette. I have so much into it that taking $4500 would add insult to injury. Good luck with the sale. I just hope that what these posters told you is what you wanted to hear.

Well, not really what I wanted to hear, but not surprising either. I have more than that into it...I have a couple of people interested locally, hopefully I can talk it up a lot haha. NADA still shows almost 8k for a daily driver, 12k for a low end restoration. Was thinking I was somewhere on the low end of in between due to the few things I've done to her. Thinking about getting a cheapish paint job to sweeten the deal...

Thanks for all the input everyone!
