Default C5 wheels on C4

What size tires would fill out the fender wells on my 91 if I went with the 18" rear and 17" front wheels from a C5?

If you have an 88-96, the C5Z wheels fit great and bolt right on.

Totally missed that you put that you have a '91. LOL. Tire sizes were 275/40/17 up front, with 295/35/18 out back. The kumho slicks were 295/35/17 and 315/35/18.

Although I don't care for the C5 wagon wheels, I tried them on my 94.

Here is a picture to show what they looked like for sizes and how well they fill out the wheel wells.

I didn't like them. They looked ok, but the 17" front and 18" rear made the car feel too high in back. I also had the stock C5 Goodyear run flats on them and they are very stiff so I didn't like the ride either. The tires were the stock C5 sizes 245/45/17 front and 275/40/18 rear.

I went back to C4 wheels.

Good luck with your choice.

Get the Hankook tires if you go with the C5 wheels - they ride great, work well in the rain and have very good traction.

I had Y2K wheels on mine too, but never did like how much inboard they sat. So I too went back to C4 wheels, 4 17x11s to be exact!

Y2K wheels, 245/45/17 and 275/40/18

Would going with wider tires in the rear make them appear more flush? I am buying some Y2k wheels today (without tires). I love the look of them but they do sit a little inboard.

Maybe, but I doubt it. A 285/35/18 may help, but you are talking only a fraction of an inch. If I wore the Y2K wheels again, I'd run a 285/35/18 anyway, but don't look for it to fill up the wheel well much more.

Looks like the 295/35/18 isn't recommended by any manufacturer I could find quickly, min wheel width should be a 10" wheel.

Worst case, get the wheels and tires mounted, then set them on the car where you want them lined up. Measure the back of the wheel to the hub. Then order a set of hub-centric wheel adapters. The one piece, same bolt pattern to same bolt pattern should be around $120. Minimum thickness is .75". I'd fit to the car and measure before ordering any adapters though.

You never know, maybe they fit more snug on your car. I also found that photos exaggerated the spacing and it never looked "that" far off in person. Although they certainly never looked flush.

Thanks for the replies, pics, and advice! I will probably go with the C5 wheels right now because I have antera 3 spokes that came with the car when I bought it and don't like them!

I am pretty pumped up. I just bought some Y2K C5 spoke wheels on craigslist. They were taken off of the car when they were driven home from the dealer, literally 20 miles on them. They are pristine, even came with the lug nut covers! Total price=$200! Rims only, no tires!

Wohoo~
