My guess is it means the receiver is starting to malfunction. Does everything still work it should?

Does that mean you can't program it now? Is everything working now, or?

So it was working, but stopped. And you can't reprogram it (you shouldn't have to reprogram it unless you get a new fob). Again, it sounds like the receiver is going bad to me. If you have an FSM you should be able to go step by step to confirm, bit I'm afraid you need a new one. There are plenty of posts on removing/replacing it if you decide to do that.
