84 Fuel Tank Removal
As anyone removed the fuel tank without removing the bumper cover? Bumper cover removal is not an option for me and I must install new tank.

The rear bumper cover is extended more than stock and all the filler has been removed so it seems to be possible. I guess I will find out next week when the tank arrives.

This thread will show you what's involved:

I saw some other pictures recently that showed how the tank support bolts to the frame.

Thanks Cliff, I am fairly confident that it will be an easy task. I just need a lift and an extra set of hands. It looks like, if the sway bar and and a couple of other items that attach to the rear axle are removed, the entire assembly will drop straight down. Tank was delivered yesterday but Google tells me this growing pain in my lower right abdomen is most likely appendicitis. So no telling when it happens now.
